Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called for expanding cooperation with Iraq across all sectors and urged the swift implementation of bilateral agreements and the drafting of a comprehensive strategic cooperation plan to serve as a long-term roadmap. Highlighting deep historical and religious ties, he emphasized the importance of developing rail and road infrastructure to integrate Iraq into regional networks for promoting transit, investment, and trade. Regarding security, Pezeshkian stressed that the stability of both nations is intertwined, calling for the full implementation of security agreements to clear border areas of terrorist groups through peaceful cooperation. In response, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih Kadhim al-Zaidi reaffirmed Baghdad's commitment to Iran's security, stating that Iraq would never allow its territory to be used to threaten Iran. He described Iran as a key strategic partner and praised its practical support in defeating the Daesh terrorist group. Furthermore, al-Zaidi noted that the presence of Iraq's economic ministers in Tehran reflects Baghdad's strong determination to expand bilateral cooperation in economic, scientific, academic, and healthcare fields.
