Iranian starts sending oil tankers to Europe (14 February 2016)

Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Company Roknoddin Javadi said three oil tankers have started loading in Kharg Oil refinery, southern Iran, to move towards European refineries.


Starting Iran’s exports of crude to Europe after implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) would come by next 24 hours, he said on Saturday.


He said that the consignment involves 4 million barrels and said, two millions of which belong to Total and the remaining to Spanish refineries and an oil company.


Iran has not sent oil consignment to Europe over last 4 years over European sanctions and this is Iran’s first crude to Europe after implementing the JCPOA, the Iranian oil official said.


17 percent of Iran’s crude used to be sent to Europe, including Spain, Greece and Italy before sanctions imposed on the country.
