Iranian Agricultural Jihad Minister Mahmoud Hojjati and Ukrainian Energy Minister Ihor Nasalyk in a meeting in Kiev signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to broaden mutual cooperation between the two countries.
The MoU was signed in a ceremony at the end of the Sixth Joint Economic Commission in the Ukrainian capital on Saturday.
The MoU covered areas of agriculture, investment, finance, trade, chamber of commerce, industry, mine and steel production, machinery, geology, banking, oil, gas, petrochemical, transport, tourism, health, sport, communication and engineering consultant services.
During a four-day visit to Ukraine, Hojjati and his accompanying 40-member delegation are to visit different plants, institutes and farms of that country.
In late February, Ukrainian Ambassador in Tehran Sergei Buldiliak said his country is willing to enter into joint ventures with Iran in energy and aircraft manufacturing.
"We are willing to expand bilateral relations, specially in economy," Buldiliak said in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran.
"Ukraine enjoys abundant capacities in energy, shipbuilding, airplane manufacturing, spare parts and machinery. We hope our bilateral cooperation will expand to these arenas as well," he added.
During the meeting, Zarif referred to a recent meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, and expressed the hope that bilateral relations would broaden in the economic, trade and cultural fields.
Iran has been seeking to bolster ties with Eastern Europe, specially Ukraine, in all the different industrial, political, economic and cultural spheres in the last few years.
