Iranian Consul General in Shanghai Ramezan Parvaz described the important role of the Silk Road in bolstering economic and cultural ties with China.
Parvaz made the remarks in a meeting with the members of Belt and Road Initiative.
“Given its strategic position in West Asia, rich civilization and deep-rooted relations with China, Iran plays major role within the framework of Belt and Road Initiative,” he noted.
The event was organized by Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association on the sidelines of China International Import Expo.
Nearly 28 Iranian knowledge-based companies and businessmen in carpet, artifact and dried fruit took part at the event.

On October 10, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in a meeting in Beijing discussed bolstering mutual cooperation and the latest regional and international developments.
During the meeting in the Chinese capital, Zarif and Wang underlined the need to broaden bilateral relations in different areas.
