Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce of Lower Austria voiced Vienna readiness to expand its trade cooperation with Tehran here on Wednesday.
Talking to IRNA, Christian Moser expressed hope that Austria-Iran trade level would reach one billion euro in near future.
The level of mutual trade was one billion euro before imposing sanctions against Iran he said, adding the figure declined to 300 million euro after the escalation of sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
Touching upon the travel of an Austrian delegation consisting the officials of 40 companies to Iran, he said they want to become acquainted with the potentials of the country.
Meanwhile, the Economy Minister of Lower Austria Petra Bohuslav traveled to Arak in Markazi province on April 24.
While in Arak, Bohuslav held a meeting with businessmen in this central province.
Yesterday, Bohuslav in a joint meeting in Tehran with Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture said that Austrian merchants and businessmen are willing to develop commercial ties with Iran since this country has high industrial and mineral capacities.
She said 90 thousand companies are presently active in her federation which gives enough reason for both Iran and Austria to promote long-term cooperation.
She said federal companies were mostly interested in working with Iran in industrial machinery and environment technologies.
Bohuslav reiterated that Austrian companies are especially interested in promoting ties with Iran because the country enjoys a very influential status in the region thanks to its old history and culture.
