Iran, Uganda to expand tourism ties (26 September 2015)


Bakhtiari made the remarks in a meeting with Edwin Muzahura, the marketing manager of Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), writes the English-language paper, Iran Daily.



“Iran attracts large numbers of tourists every year”, he said, adding Iranian tourism officials are after increasing the country’s share of the global tourism market.



Bakhtiari said designation of ‘Mashhad’ and ‘Kampala’ as the Asian and African cultural capitals of Islamic countries in 2017 is a good opportunity to expand ties with African nations.



The official said Iranian tour agencies and hoteliers would take part in a major tourism event titled ‘Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo’, which would be held in Kampala, Uganda on Nov. 17-19, 2015.



Muzahura described the African tourism expo as an important international event for broadening tourism ties with Iran.



“The tourism officials from 10 countries, including Iran, have expressed readiness to take part in the event”, he said adding that Iranian tour agencies can showcase their country’s numerous attractions and tourism potentials to allure more visitors.



Uganda is among most-visited countries in the world in view of having mild climatic condition, its natural attractions including Victoria Lake and Kidepo National Park.
