Iran, Mongolia to expand cooperation on livestock breeding (23 December 2015)


Iran and Mongolia agreed to expand cooperation on agriculture and livestock breeding.



Minister of Agricultural Jihad Mahmoud Hojjati told Mongolian foreign minister Lundeg Purevsuren that Iran-Mongolia diplomatic relations are at excellent level, calling for enhanced economic ties.



He hoped for information and experience sharing by Iran and Mongolia in agricultural domain.



After triumph of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Iran has gained rich experience in agriculture, he added.



Referring to Irans climate, he said that Iran has limitations about water supplies, adding that optimum use of water resources has been the focus of Iranian planners.



He said that export of farm products last year fetched 6.5 billion dollars and that Iran is one of the exporters of the horticultural products in the region. 



He said that Iran gained success in fisheries and animal husbandry, rich experience in seed technology, resistance to coldness, saltiness and diseases, adding that Iran ranks top in terms of aquaculture in the region, being prepared to cooperate with Mongolia in that field.



He said Iran and Mongolia can cooperate in the fields of agriculture, production, science and commerce. 



Purevsuren said for his part that since 2012, when Mongolian president visited Iran, there is strong determination for expansion of mutual ties.



He said next Christian year, the 45th anniversary of friendly ties will be celebrated in Mongolia.



Mongolia with five million square meters of land and three million population, has 70 million cattle, he said.
