"If we are after a leap in production, we should consider non-oil exports as the most important element for strengthening domestic production,” Eshaq Jahangiri said.
"To strengthen domestic production, we need to look for foreign markets to supply our products, as local markets are limited," he added.
Jahangiri called on Foreign Ministry and other affiliated institutes to set necessary infrastructure for promotion of exports to the 15 neighboring countries and other countries like China and India as well as Eurasia member states by strengthening economic diplomacy and concentrating on target countries.
In relevant remarks on May 5, Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani said that the country will benefit highly from the export of non-oil goods and it will act as an economic driving force in the current year.
“Despite all problems ahead, the Ministry exported more than 135 million metric tons of non-oil goods last year [ended March 19, 2020],” Rahmani said.
