Trade exchanges between Iran and other member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) show 34 and 44 percent increases in terms of weight and value respectively within the past eight months of the Iranian current year (March 21, 2021 to November 21, 2021).
Spokesman of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said on Monday that the trade has been estimated at 21,778,387 tons of commodities worth 10,447,084,435 dollars.
Iran exported to nine ECO members more than 18,631,000 tons of goods worth 6,823,246,367 dollars, indicating 46 and 54 percent increases in terms of weight and value respectively, Latifi noted.
The Islamic Republic also imported from the mentioned countries 3,147,332 tons of goods worth 623,838,068 dollars in the eight months, showing a 10 percent decline in terms of weight but a 28 percent increase in terms of value, the spokesman added.
Turkey stood first among importers of Iran-made commodities worth 3,767,795,797 dollars, followed by Afghanistan with 1,270,610,807 dollars, he said, adding that Pakistan stood third among Iran"s export markets, which imported 764,389,728 dollars during the period.
The Azerbaijan Republic with 553,515 tons, Uzbekistan with 514,022 tons, Turkmenistan with 894,847 tons, Kazakhstan with 311,866 tons, Kyrgyzstan with 28,440 tons and Tajikistan with 54,612 tons have been among the ECO"s next importers of Iranian commodities, he explained.
Iran imported 2,722,301 tons of goods worth 3,243,063,568 dollars from Turkey, showing a 15 percent decrease in terms of weight and a 24 percent increase in terms of value, he said, noting that Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan Republic have been among ECO"s second to fifth great exporters of commodities to Iran.
The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), an Asian political and economic intergovernmental body, was founded in 1985 in Tehran by the leaders of Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey.
Now, 10 countries, including, Pakistan, Turkey, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan Republic and Iran are the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization.
